TAVUSH

A lavish region full of forests Tavush is situated in Armenia’s North-East. During the Soviet era it was on a forefront of the grape material propagation science and was hosting some of the important scientific institutions. Nowadays the main varieties cultivated here Kangoun, Lalvari, Banants, Garan Dmak, give stunningly fresh and aromatic white wines. Vineyards are located mainly in Northern and North-Eastern parts of the region.

Altitude: 400-1000 m above sea level

Soil type: Carbonaceous, leached, meadows

Climate: Average temperature during the day (January-July) is -0.5°C, +21,1°C. Average rainfall during vegetation is 410 mm. Sum of active temperatures during the year (+10°C and more) 3166°C.

Grape varieties: Kangoun, Lalvari, Banants, Garan Dmak
