ARAGATSOTN
Aragatsotn is a land of volcanic shields with their highest elevation at 4,090 meters above sea level. The region’s climate is very diverse. Summer in the valley lasts till October, while the areas next to the top of Mount Aragats are mostly winter-cold throughout the year.
The high-mountainous areas feature alpine meadows which are often crisscrossed by deep gorges and bare rocks.
Aragatsotn boasts thousands of years of a rich history and ancient legacy of agriculture and winemaking. Ancient irrigation system dating back to the Kingdom of Van (Veri Aru, 8th-7th cc. BC) were found here. The region nowadays is home to new and modern wineries. Close proximity to the capital, Yerevan makes it an attractive destination for wine enthusiasts.
